LUDENS cellar is placed at The Masia Grabuach. It dates back to 1794 and since this time has undergone many modifications. Around 1907 it was refurbished by the famous modernist architect José Puig i Cadafalch who was responsible for designing the distinctive tower which still stands today. Stained-glass windows and typical art nouveau tiles adorn many parts of the house and cellars.
LUDENS is a family-owned company managed by Maura Rovira, a trained enologist, who is personally involved in the complete production process.
The family has 50 Hectares of vines on which the three autocthonous Penedes grapes, Macabeu, Xarel·lo and Parellada are cultivated.
In 1984 the total production of Cava was 30,000 bottles per year. Today it produces over 150,000 bottles of Cava per year and growing with exports to EU.
LUDENS combines the use of traditional methods with a complete knowledge of modern techniques, producing cava suitable for national and international markets.
Complementing traditional methods with a thorough knowledge of modern techniques, Maura Rovira still maintains a strict control over the quality of CAVA LUDENS which owes its success to her personal care and attention to detail. Her participation extends throughout the production and tasting process ensuring the constant effervescent quality of each individual bottle. Thus the production of CAVA LUDENS remains true to its traditions and to the cultivation of the three classic Penedès grapes whose blend is carefully monitored.
